Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 firmware development has begun, according to a report by NewzOnly. The firmware files have revealed the model numbers of both devices.
To recall, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 from last year have model numbers SM-F936 and SM-F721, respectively. The new report reveals that the model number of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is SM-F946, and the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s model number is SM-F731. According to recent reports, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to have a 7.6-inch foldable AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1,768 x 2,208 pixels. Although it is unknown what size the front display will be, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 will most likely shield both screens. Under the hood, it is rumoured that the device will be powered by the custom-designed Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, which works at 3.36GHz. It is the same chipset that powers the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra.
In terms of camera specifications, the Z Fold 5 could have a rear camera setup that includes an OIS-enabled 108-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 64-megapixel telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. Some sources have previously suggested that the device will have a slot for the S Pen, but a recent leak has revealed otherwise. The Z Fold 5 is likely to come in UFS 4.0 storage options like 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Lastly, the device is expected to arrive with a new hinge that will considerably decrease the display crease.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is likely to feature a 3.36GHz Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and house a big cover display that may measure around 3.5 inches. The base model of the Z Flip 5 is expected to come equipped with 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It will also come in UFS 4.0 storage options like 256GB and 512GB.
