CES 2020: Samsung Q950TS QLED 8K TV with bezel-less design unveiled

Samsung has unveiled a new 8K television dubbed as the Samsung Q950TS. One of the major highlights of the Q950TS 8K TV is that it comes with an Infinity Screen that offers a nearly bezel-less design. The thickness of the TV is only 15mm as it features a completely flat rear shell. For enhanced audio, picture and smart TV features, the Q950TS 8K TV is driven by Samsung’s all new Quantum Processor 8K. The Samsung Q950TS QLED 8K TV is designed to stream 8K content from YouTube, Rakuten and other services. The new Quantum Processor 8K with advanced AI capabilities can upscale content of any resolution to 8K by enhancing the picture quality on a pixel-by-pixel basis along with noise reduction and edge restoration. The Q950TS is equipped with a full-array local dimming LED backlight, while the Adaptive Picture feature automatically adjusts its brightness and contrast for the best viewing experience. The AI ScaleNet ensures optimised smooth streaming connection with the available bandwidth.

The Samsung Q950TS QLED 8K TV features a 99 percent screen to body ratio

The Samsung Q950TS is equipped with a pair of speakers at the top, bottom and underside along with a pair of sub-woofers. The AI powered Object Tracking Sound+ software can match the movement of audio with the movement of objects on the display for enhanced 5.1 surround-sound output. Users can pair the Samsung Q950TS with a HQ-Q800T soundbar for dynamic and multi-dimensional soundscape. There is Active Voice Amplifier onboard that can enhance the sound of dialogues when it detects noises like blenders or vacuum cleaners in the surrounding.

With Multi-View, users can project the content of their mobile device on the Samsung Q950TS alongside a separate portion on the screen for TV content. Multi-View offers users with 14 available layouts like side-by-side or picture-in-picture. Tap View is a feature that lets users to seamlessly the phone’s content on the TV by touching both devices together.

Digital Butler provides a quick and easy way to connect nearby devices through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. TV Plus allows users to watch 120+ international TV channels for free this year. The Universal Guide has a neat interface and is powered by AI to recommend content based on the viewing habits of the user.

For tracking fitness activities, the Samsung Q950TS integrates the Samsung Health app. Apart from health monitoring, the app can be used to view exclusive content from Calm, FitPlan, Echelon, ObeFitness and more. It comes with built-in Bixby and Alexa smart assistants. The TV runs Tizen OS which is bolstered by Knox Security to prevent malware and phishing activities. For gamers, the TV supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Game Motion Plus which improves movement in games, and enhanced audio output while gaming.

Samsung is yet to confirm the pricing and availability of the Q950TS QLED 8K TV.
