South Korean consumer electronics manufacturer Samsung has announced a new vertical TV dubbed as ‘The Sero’. It pivots between vertical and horizontal orientations, working in both portrait mode and regular landscape mode.
Considering that most mobile content is vertical, the Samsung Sero TV is made for millennial users who want to consume vertical content. A vertically positioned TV appears like a smartphone and is ideal for social media usages such as Instagram and Facebook. It can let you watch content in its native vertical configuration.
As for the technical specs, the Sero is a 43-inch TV featuring a quantum-dot QLED display. It comes with its own Navy-coloured stand that can be rotated in either vertical (portrait) or horizontal (landscape) mode depending on the usage. The TV is equipped with a 4.1 channel speaker with a 60W sound output which can be used for streaming music services. The Sero also comes with built-in Bixby voice assistant. When the TV is not in use, it can be used as a digital photo frame or a music visualizer, thus creating a unique interior look.
Pricing & Availability:
Samsung has priced the Sero vertical TV at 1.9 million won which roughly converts to Rs 11 lakh. The company announced that the TV will be first released in South Korea at the end of May.
Samsung’s vertical TV seems interesting to cash in on mobile content that consumers would love to see on the big screen. What are your thoughts on this?
