Samsung SM-G889F Appears on Geekbench With Exynos 9810 Chipset and 4GB RAM

In January this year, a Samsung smartphone with model number SM-G889A bagged certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance running on the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system. The smartphone has now appeared on the Geekbench benchmark database, this time running on the newer Android 9.0 Pie operating system. While Roland Quandt had claimed at MWC 2019 that the device is a rugged variant of the Galaxy S9, leakster Ishan Agarwal suggested it could be a premium mid-range smartphone instead.

Samsung SM-G889F Will be Powered by Last Year’s Exynos 9810 Chipset

The Samsung SM-G889F Geekbench listing reveals the smartphone runs on an Exynos 9810 octa-core processor under the hood, the same chipset that powered Samsung’s 2018 flagship smartphones such as the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9. The 2018 Samsung flagship mobile processor inside the smartphone is paired with 4GB of RAM. Unsurprisingly, the smartphone managed to score an impressive 3,130 points in the single-core test and 9,050 points in the multi-core test on Geekbench. As mentioned above already, the smartphone is currently being tested on the Android 9.0 Pie operating system.

At the Mobile World Congress 2019 earlier this year, Roland Quandt got his hands on an alleged SM-G889 unit at Samsung’s booth. As you can see in the video below, the device appears to be a rugged variant of the Galaxy S9, which Quandt claims is designed for public service use. That means the smartphone may not be available for consumers. In terms of design, the device looks very similar to the “Active” series of flagship rugged smartphones from Samsung. The hands-on video posted by Quandt had revealed the SM-G889 features a 5.2-inch display with Quad HD resolution and a 12MP single rear camera.

On the other hand, leakster Ishan Agarwal had claimed in February that the SM-G889 is a premium mid-range Android smartphone that could be priced around INR 40,000 in India. In global markets, the leakster suggested the smartphone could be priced somewhere between $500 to $600.
