Sharp Aquos zero2 with 240Hz display and Snapdragon 855 goes official

In January 2019, Japanese technology conglomerate Sharp launched their Snapdragon 845-powered flagship smartphone called the Aquos Zero. The company claimed that it was the world’s lightest smartphone with a 6-inch display. Earlier today, Sharp launched its successor, the Aquos zero2 as the company’s first smartphone with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The highlight of this smartphone is it’s incredibly lightweight. There is no information on pricing and availability at the moment.

The Aquos zero2 features a 6.4-inch full HD+ OLED display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display offers a 240Hz refresh rate that promises efficient performance while gaming. It features a waterdrop notch that houses the front camera. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC with an Adreno 640 GPU and 8GB of RAM. For storage, it features 256GB of UFS 3.0 internal memory. In terms of security, the device offers facial recognition apart from the in-display fingerprint scanner.

The Sharp Aquos zero2 sports a dual camera setup at the rear. The primary lens is a 12-megapixel unit with an aperture rating of f/1.7 along with a 20-megapixel wide-angle sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The front camera is an 8-megapixel unit. The cameras are AI-enabled and offer features such as AI Live Story and AI Live Shutter. The camera also features blur-correction thanks to the image quality engine ProPix 2.

The smartphone draws power from a 3,130mAh battery and runs the latest Android 10. The device will be offered in two colour tones, namely Misty White and Astro Black. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS and USB Type-C. The smartphone is waterproof and dustproof, conforming to the standards of IPX5, IPX 6X and IPX8. The Aquos Zero 2 weights just 143g, which is 3g lighter than its predecessor.

There is no word on the pricing of the Aquos zero2. It will be available for purchase in December this year.
