A Sleekier and More Affordable Television from Xiaomi Coming Soon

Xiaomi, the brand popular in India for bringing affordable electronics in the Indian market launched the MiTV 4 last month. The company has started teasing another Television to follow the success of the MiTV. This is likely to be the Mi TV 4A. Similar to other products from the brand, the highly affordable and spec-buffed Mi TV 4 sold out in just seconds during its first sale. That being said, the brand’s fans seek something more affordable than the Rs. 40,000 55-inch beast; something more moderately sized.

As always, the Chinese brand is looking to meet those demands with the upcoming television, which is speculated to be the Mi TV 4A. The company recently tweeted:

This could either point towards an all-new India-exclusive television or the Mi TV 4A. This could go either way, similar to the Redmi Note 5 Pro, which most people speculated to be a renamed version of the Redmi 5 Plus, but the company surprised everyone with an all-new device. The Note 5 Pro was the first exclusive device by the brand which was launched in India.

Either way, if this upcoming television does happen to be the Mi TV 4A, which has already been launched in China, here’s what you need to know about it.

To start with, the TV is smaller than its larger sibling. It comes in two variants, a 32-inch model and a 43-inch model. Both models have a Full-HD panel as compared to the 4K one on the Mi TV 4. Both variants also come with a wide 178-degree viewing angle, so regardless of where you are sitting in front of the TV, you should be able to see the content vividly.

Underneath its slim frame, the TV will be powered by a quad-core Amlogic T962 processor ticking at 1.5GHz. In addition to that, the device will also rock 2GB DDR4 RAM with 8GB of internal storage. Similar to the Mi TV 4, it will run a custom forked OS (PatchWall) built on top of Android.

In terms of connectivity, the device will allow users to connect to the internet through WiFi and Ethernet. It also supports Bluetooth 4.2 LE, two HDMI 2.0b ports, an AV port and two USB 2.0 ports. On the audio front, the TV packs in two 6W speakers for a seamless listening experience. If you wish to attach extra speakers, you can do so through the 3.5mm headphone jack. It also comes with Dolby Virtual Surround Sound, DTS and Bass Boost for an enhanced audio experience.

Coming to the most important question. How much will it cost?

The Mi TV 4A is expected to be launched under Rs. 20,000, possibly as low as Rs. 12,999 for the 32-inch variant and Rs.21,999 for the 43-inch one. This will make it one of the most affordable and feature packed televisions available on the market. The Mi TV 4 has already given brands like Samsung and LG a run for their money. With the introduction of an even more affordable television, Xiaomi could capture a large chunk of the market, considering they can deliver on the high demand. What are your views?
