The American psychological horror film, Smile, which released in 2022, and became an instant blockbuster, is now available online for fans in India to enjoy.

Fans in India can watch Smile on Amazon Prime Video. The movie is available currently on a rental basis and fans can pay Rs. 119 to watch the film. Meanwhile, users can also rent Smile on AppleTV+ at a cost of Rs. 150, on YouTube for Rs. 120, and on Google Play Movies and TV for Rs. 120.

Media buzz state that a few weeks later, Smile will be available on Amazon Prime Video for free for all subscribers. Official information regarding the same is awaited.

Smile: Cast and Crew

The film has been written and directed by Parker Finn and is based on a short film titled Laura Hasn’t Slept, which was also directed by Finn in 2020. Smile marks his feature directorial debut and stars Sosie Bacon, Jessie T. Usher, Kyle Gallner, Kal Penn, and Rob Morgan. The film has been produced by Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Isaac Klausner and Robert Salerno.

The cinematography of Smile has been managed by Charlie Sarroff and the editing has been done by Elliot Greenberg. Cristobal Tapia de Veer has given the music for the film, which has been produced under Paramount Players and Temple Hill Entertainment banners. Paramount Pictures has distributed the film worldwide.

Presented as a horror-mystery, the official premise of Smile, as shared on IMDb reads, “After witnessing a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient, Dr. Rose Cotter starts experiencing frightening occurrences that she can’t explain. Rose must confront her troubling past in order to survive and escape her horrifying new reality.”

However, makers have also added that several themes and devices have been explored in Smile and the audience will be able to relate with aspects like trauma, grief, and guilt. Many sequences will make the audience delve and understand the metaphorical levels of storytelling eventually making them experience deeper extents of of personal trauma.

Smile: Reviews and Box Office Success

Critics and audience have given positive response to the film stating the makers have ensured that the viewers are glued to the screens. The film is packed with many scary sequences which will move the audience from their seats, especially with the creepy visuals. Sosie Bacon’s work has been lauded as she elevates the experience of trauma which would linger with the audience even after the film.

On the box office front, Smile, made at a nominal budget of $17 million went on to making a total worldwide gross of $216.1 million.
