Sony A9G and A8G 4K OLED TVs launched in India: price, specifications

Sony has introduced two televisions each under its new MASTER series and BRAVIA OLED 4K TV range in India. The former includes the A9G 4K HDR OLED TV, while the latter is the A8G series. Both the MASTER and BRAVIA TV Range come in 55 and 65-inch display sizes. Let’s take a look at the technical specifications and features of the televisions below:

Master A9G:

The Master series A9G is Sony’s new flagship 4K HDR OLED TV. Both the KD-55A9G and KD65A9G come with a 4K OLED screen bearing a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. The screen consists of over 8 million self-illuminating pixels. The TVs are equipped with the Sony X1 Ultimate Picture Processor and come with Pixel Contrast Booster to offer more colour and contrasts in bright areas. The A9G 4K HDR OLED TVs come with support for HDR 10 and Dolby Vision standards for high dynamic content range. There is also a Netflix Calibrated mode which is said to improve the picture quality for Netflix original TV shows. Sony claims that the TVs are capable of scaling up SD and HD content to near 4K picture quality. 

In terms of audio, the Sony A9G 4K HDR OLED TVs feature a 2.2 channel acoustic surface audio+ that is said to reproduce the sound as if it were coming directly from the screen rather than the speaker. The TVs are equipped with two actuators and two subwoofers producing an audio output of 60 watts. It also supports Dolby Atmos and DTS Digital Sound. 

The Sony A9G TVs run on the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system. They support a huge range of apps from Google Play including YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hotstar and more. The TVs pack 16GB onboard storage for downloading games and apps. They also come with a built-in Chromecast and Google Assistant for casting smartphone on the big screen and hands-free voice search respectively. The A9G TVs are also compatible with Alexa smart devices, Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. 

Design-wise, the A9G TVs flaunt a slim and premium look blending with the home interiors. They come in a Black frame colour and Dark Silver stand colour. The TVs come with a bundled wall mount with a swivel functionality ensuring the best viewing position and flexible usage. The Sony A9G ships with a circular design built-in microphone and enhanced button layout remote. It also comes with a DTH control function. 

Bravia A8G Series:

The Bravia A8G 4K OLED TV series is available in 55 and 65-inch sizes. The features of the TV are similar to the A9G except for the processor. The A8G TVs are powered by an older X1 Extreme chipset. It offers 4K HDR viewing experience by incorporating technologies like Object-based HDR remaster, Super Bit Mapping, and Dual database processing. The television is claimed to offer significantly enriched visual experience that comes with unprecedented blacks, rich colours, and a wide viewing angle. Like the A9G, the A8G series also supports Acoustic Surface Audio. The Android TV also comes with built-in Google Assistant for voice control. 

Pricing & Availability:

Beginning with the A9G, the KD-55A9G and KD-65A9G are priced at Rs 2,69,990 and Rs 3,69,990 respectively. The 55-inch model of A8G will cost Rs 2,19,990 while the 65-inch carries a price tag of Rs 3,19,990. 

The A9G series will be available for purchase starting August 1st while the A8G is already available. Customers can purchase the TVs via major e-commerce websites, as well as Sony Centers and major offline retail stores.
