[Update 1: TENAA listing has been updated with additional specifications including camera details and renders]
Sony recently made headlines by launching the Xperia 10 II mid-range phone, Xperia 1 II flagship phone and the advanced Xperia Pro through a livestream event. Prior to that, earlier this month, the Japanese brand also launched a mid-range smartphone called Sony Xperia L4 with nearly-bezel-less display and side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Now, Pricebaba has spotted what looks like an entry-level smartphone on TENAA, the Chinese certification website. The listing doesn’t reveal a lot of details, but there are enough to conclude that this would be an affordable offering.
The TENAA listing of the smartphone reveals that it will bear the model number S20A, which appears to be a new series. According to the website, the upcoming smartphone will feature a 5.45-inch display, but there’s no word on the screen type. Additionally, the listing suggests that the smartphone will boot Android and have a 4,000mAh battery powering it. The handset will be a dual SIM device with dual standby with support for LTE. The listing also reveals that the Sony S20A will be a chunky smartphone measuring 150.8 x 72.8 x 12.5mm. Unfortunately, there are no more details apart from these.
Update: The TENAA listing has been updated since we covered this yesterday with additional details about the smartphone. We know now that the upcoming smartphone’s 5.45-inch display will be a TFT panel with 960 x 480 pixels resolution. While the processor make is not yet known, the listing suggests it will be a quad-core unit with a clock speed of 1.3GHz. The chipset will be further accompanied by up to 6GB RAM along with internal storage up to 128GB expandable up to 128GB. In the camera department, the smartphone will get a 5-megapixels shooter on the back and a 2-megapixel selfie snapper on the front. The smartphone will be offered in gold, white, black, red, and blue colourways. The listing has also been updated with images and we can see what looks like a rugged and compact smartphone with a back panel that is reminiscent of Black Shark with X-shaped island. You can see volume keys and power buttons on the side as well.
The last affordable smartphone from Sony was the Xperia L4. To recap, the smartphone ships with a 6.2-inch display bearing a resolution of 1,680 x 720 pixels and a waterdrop notch. Ticking at the core of the smartphone is an octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 12nm processor, backed by 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage further expandable up to 512GB using a microSD card. In the camera department, the phone offers 13MP + 5MP wide-angle lens + 2MP depth sensor on the back and an 8MP snapper on the front. The Xperia L4 boots Android 9 Pie and is powered by a 3,580mAh battery with fast charging.
We will know more about the Sony S20A in the coming days, however, at this point, this is all there is to know.
