Sony Xpera XZ2 Premium Launched, Comes with a 4K HDR Display and Snapdragon 845

Sony Xperia XZ2 was launched in MWC this year. Today, Sony has announced an upgraded variant of the phone dubbed as the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium. It comes with a lot of improvements and high-end features over the previous phone. Let’s see what Sony has to offer with its flagship Xperia XZ2 Premium.

The phone rocks a stunning 4K HDR triluminos display which is quite unheard of in smartphones. It has a 5.8-inch display and with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, the pixel density is a staggering 759 PPI. This is as good as it gets when it comes to smartphone displays. It also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top to prevent damage from accidental dropping and scratches.

Apart from the super sharp display, even the cameras on the XZ2 Premium are noteworthy. The are two cameras on the rear that combines 19-megapixel + 12-megapixel sensors. This is a Motion Eye dual camera setup that has a sensitivity of ISO 12800 which is probably the highest amongst all smartphone cameras. It also allows for slow motion videos up to 960fps. The sensitivity for photos is ISO 51200 which is considerably good. Owing to these specifications, the smartphone can capture ultra low-light pictures with ease. On the front, the device gets a 13-megapixel snapper which has an aperture of f/2.0 for selfies.

Coming to the performance, there is a Snapdragon 845 chipset fitted inside along with 6GB of RAM. These are top of the line specifications which will make sure multi-tasking is seamless. The phone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system. There’s 64GB of internal storage but it can be expanded externally up to 400GB via a microSD card.  

The Xperia XZ2 Premium is powered by a 3540mAh battery unit with support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging. In terms of connectivity, the phone has all the basic options including Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, NFC, 4G VoLTE and others. There’s a 3.5mm audio jack and an USB Type-C port provided as well.

Pricing of the phone is not revealed yet. It is said to be available globally in the next few months.
