Sony has announced its latest flagship smartphone called the Sony Xperia 5 II in the US today. However, it won’t be available for sale until December this year. The Japanese brand claims that the Xperia 5 II is the world’s first smartphone to offer 4K HDR 120fps slow-motion movie recording.
Apart from that, the new flagship smartphone from Sony features a CinemaWide HDR OLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 865 SoC and 5G connectivity as its highlights. Other specifications include a 12-megapixel triple camera setup, dedicated camera shutter button, and side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Sony Xperia 5 II specifications and features
The Sony Xperia 5 II is fitted with a 6.1-inch OLED HDR display with 21:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone has conventional bezels on the top and bottom of the display. The screen offers 2,520 x 1,080 pixels resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz Motion blur reduction, and 240Hz touch sampling rate. Ticking at the core is the Snapdragon 865 SoC backed by Adreno 650 GPU, 8GB RAM, and 128GB storage. The onboard storage can be further expanded up to 1TB using a microSD card.
Sony has equipped the flagship smartphone with a triple camera setup on the back comprising a 12MP primary Exmor RS sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 12MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The top bezel is housing an 8MP camera for selfies and video calling.
The Sony Xperia 5 II has a 4,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging and boots Android 10 out of the b0x. Other features of the smartphone include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, IP65/IP68 rating for water resistance, 5G, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C.

The Sony Xperia 5 II is being offered in a single black hue and has been priced at $950 (~Rs 70,000). The smartphone will be up for pre-orders starting September 29th but will go on sale from December 4th.
