Sony has expanded its range of smartphones with the launch of the Xperia 8 in the Japanese market. The device has arrived as the company’s latest mid-range handset. The phone sports the taller display with an aspect ratio of 21:9, a water and dust resistant design, and dual primary cameras at the rear. Notably, the Xperia 8 has a layer of Corning’s Gorilla Glass 6 at both the front and rear. Also, the handset sports Sony’s High-Resolution Audio and LDAC technology to provide an immersive media experience.

The Sony Xperia 8 sports a 6-inch full HD+ wide LCD display with an aspect ratio of 21:9. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 630 octa-core processor that offers a clock speed of 2.2GHz. The chipset is paired with 4GB of RAM and Adreno 508 graphics processor. There’s 64GB of native storage onboard the handset, which can be further increased up to 512GB by inserting a microSD card.
In the camera department, the Sony Xperia 8 features a 12MP primary shooter at the rear, which is accompanied by an 8MP secondary snapper. The phone also has Electronic Image Stabilisation and 2X optical zooming capabilities. For selfies and video calling, there’s an 8MP shooter above the screen. The connectivity features include 4G LTE, dual-SIM slots, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, USB Type-C, NFC, and A-GPS. A 2,760mAh battery with fast charging support keeps the whole package alive.

The Sony Xperia 8 has been priced at 54,000 Yen (~Rs 36,000), and will go on sale in Japan by the end of this month. The phone will be available in multiple hues including Gray, Black, Orange, and Blue colour variants.
