Sony Xperia Ace with 5-inch Display and Snapdragon 630 Announced

In December 2018, reliable tipster @OnLeaks had shared the renders of Xperia XZ4 Compact. However, some rumours that surfaced later claimed that Sony had cancelled the device. Now, the Japanese tech giant has officially launched the previously leaked smartphone, but as the Xperia Ace.

The Sony Xperia Ace features a Triluminous display measuring 5-inches. The display features an 18:9 aspect ratio and full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,160 pixels. The bezels above and below the display are quite thick. The IPX5/8 certified dustproof and water-resistant handset measures 140 x 67 x 9.3mm and weighs 154 grams.

It is fueled by the Snapdragon 630 octa-core chipset, supported by 4GB of RAM. It comes with an inbuilt storage of 64GB. A microSD card slot is available on the device for additional storage. The handset includes a 2,700mAh battery that can be charged through USB Type-C. The Stamina Mode available on the phone allows it deliver long-lasting performance.

Android 9 Pie with Xperia UI comes preloaded on the Xperia Ace. The rear side of the phone features a 12-megapixel camera with f/1.8 aperture. It comes with optical + electronic hybrid image stabilisation. The camera performance has been optimised to shoot better images in darker conditions. For shooting selfies, it is equipped with a 120-degree superwide 8-megapixel lens. The display of the phone can function as a flash while shooting selfies in dim light conditions. There is also a Portrait mode onboard. For enhanced audio experience, the Xperia Ace offers features like dual front-firing speakers, Hi-Res audio, DSEE HX, LDAC and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The other features of the Sony Xperia Ace include Wi-Fi, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC. Lastly, the smartphone is equipped a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Sony Xperia Ace Price and Availability

The Xperia Ace will be available in Japan through Docomo from June 1st with a price tag of JPY 48,600 (~Rs. 31,180).  Its colour variants include Purple, White and Black. There is no information on its availability outside of Japan at present.
