At CES in January this year, Sony launched the mid-range Xperia L2 alongside the Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra. Now, thanks to a partnership with @OnLeaks, Pricebaba has obtained exclusive factory-based CAD renders and a 360-degree video of the Xperia L2’s successor – expected to be termed the Xperia L3.
We can confirm that the Xperia L3 features a 5.7-inch display, and expect it to feature HD+ resolution given that it appears to sport an 18:9 aspect ratio. We also have the dimensions of the device – 153.8 x 71.9 x 9mm. The Xperia L3 is quite different in terms of design compared to the Xperia L2, featuring rounded edges and curved corners. The device features ample bezels at the top and bottom despite the taller display, with Sony branding prominently displayed on the chin. At the top, you can see an earpiece, selfie camera and sensors. Coming to the ports and buttons, the bottom edge houses a microphone, loudspeaker and USB Type-C port. Sony has retained the 3.5mm audio jack on the top edge. The right spine is where you’ll find the power button, volume rocker and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. On the back panel, you can see a dual-camera setup in a vertical arrangement (the Xperia L2 has a single rear camera), with an LED flash underneath. Sony and Xperia branding is also present at the rear. We don’t know the material Sony has used for the construction of the device, but it appears to be plastic/polycarbonate with a glossy finish.
To recap on the Xperia L2, the device sports a 5.5-inch HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass layer on top. It’s powered by the MediaTek MT6737T processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. The USP of the device is its 8-megapixel selfie camera which features a 120-degree wide-angle lens. The rear camera is a 13MP unit. The remaining specifications of the device include a 3,300mAh battery, Android Nougat and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
These are very early renders of the Sony Xperia L3, and given that the Xperia L2 was launched in January, we expect a similar time-frame for the L3’s launch. More leaks and rumours about the device should surface closer to the launch date, and we’ll keep you posted about those as and when they appear.
