In October last year, Sony Mobile announced that the Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Ultra, and Xperia XA2 Plus smartphones will receive the stable Android 9.0 Pie update starting from March 4, 2019. The Sony Xperia XA2 has now been spotted on the Geekbench database running Android Pie, suggesting the update is highly likely to begin rolling out as planned early next month.
Sony Xperia XA2 Android Pie Update Expected to Begin Rolling Out on March 4
The Sony Xperia XA2 H3113 variant running Android 9.0 Pie achieved a single-core score of 853 points and a multi-core score of 3,966 points on Geekbench. When compared to the smartphone’s benchmarking performance on Android Oreo, the multi-core seems to be slightly on the lower side. As mentioned earlier, the Xperia XA2 Geekbench listing suggests the stable Android 9.0 update for the smartphone will be ready to roll out early next month. In select markets, Xperia XA2 owners will begin receiving the update starting March 4. However, the update is expected to become available only for a small number of users on the first day. It may take a few days for Sony Mobile to push the update to a larger group of users. Along with the Xperia XA2, the update will also begin rolling out for the Xperia XA2 Ultra and Xperia XA2 Plus smartphones on the same day.
The Android Pie update will bring several new features and improvements aimed at making your device more intuitive. With the Adaptive Battery feature, you can expect longer battery life as it uses machine learning to identify apps that are not used very often and makes sure they do not drain the battery running in the background. Similarly, the Adaptive Brightness feature auto-adjusts the screen brightness by picking up the user’s manual adjustments in different light settings. Some of the other major highlights include a new streamlined camera app, updated Do not disturb feature, revamped notifications, and more.
