Sony’s next flagship Xperia XZ1 is highly anticipated for a lot of reasons and now, it seems the phone might be among the first devices to come with Android 8.0 out of the box. Although the phone was previously spotted on Geekbench with Android 7.1.1 Nougat, new leaks suggest otherwise.
As per specifications on Geekbench, the phone will run Android 8.0 on top of Sony’s custom skin. The above image shows a subtext which mentions Android Sony Edition as the Operating System along with Android 8.0. Performance-wise it might rock the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 along with Adreno 540 for a superior graphic experience. It might possibly come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
According to the same leak, Sony XZ1 might possess a 5.1-inch display supposedly with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Optically, the phone is expected to have a 19MP main camera and a 13MP front camera, both of which seem impressive on paper.
It is highly possible that we might get to witness Sony Xperia XZ1’s launch in IFA 2017, which is scheduled towards the end of August. Rumours suggest that Android O will be launched sometime this week. Thus, we might get to witness Android 8.0 in Sony XZ1 later this month if the Geekbench specifications are to be believed.
Sony might also launch a compact version of their flagship, as usual. This phone is expected to be called Xperia XZ1 Compact and shall come with toned down specifications in comparison to its sibling. Another new phone termed as Sony Xperia X1 can also be launched in the same event. Both of these phones have been spotted on Geekbench previously.
