The Tecno POP 5 has been launched in Nigeria. It has arrived as the successor to last year’s Tecno POP 4 entry-level smartphone that debuted back in July 2020.

The POP 5 is a modest phone that features a waterdrop notch display, which allows it to deliver a tall aspect ratio. It is backed by a huge battery and offers a 5-megapixel dual-camera system for photography.

Tecno POP 5 runs on Android 10 Go edition

The Tecno POP 5 has a 6.52-inch IPS LCD panel that offers a 20:9 aspect ratio and HD+ resolution of 720 x 1,600 pixels. As can be seen in the image, the display is surrounded by thick bezels.

The display notch houses an 8-megapixel camera with flash. The rear side of the phone features a 5-megapixel dual-camera system with dual-LED flash. While the front camera carries support for face unlock, the device also features a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. The phone runs HiOS based on Android 10 (Go edition).

The POP 5 has is driven by an unnamed 1.3GHz quad-core chipset and 2GB of RAM. The device is equipped with a native storage of 32GB, and it also features a microSD card slot for expansion.

It is backed by a 5,000mAh battery that supports only 10W charging. The big battery offers 11 hours of watching videos, 100 hours of listening music, and 790 hours of standby. The phone features connectivity options like dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Tecno POP 5 pricing and availability

The Tecno POP 5 is priced NGN 44,000 (~Rs 8,000) and it comes in colours like Rose Gold and Ather Black. There is no word on whether this phone will be made available in India.
