Highlights

  • The Tecno POVA 4 was first introduced in October
  • Customers can get the smartphone from Amazon and JioMart starting next week
  • With 13GB of RAM, the POVA 4 has been designed with multitasking in mind

Mid-range phones are available in abundance in India. The newest entrant to the list is the Tecno POVA 4, which was originally launched in October. A recent report confirmed it would be sold via Amazon, and the company has now officially launched the smartphone for India, bearing an impressive specs sheet and an attractive price tag.

Tecno says the phone is designed for “GenZ consumers” who have a natural proclivity to use numerous apps on their phones. Among the phone’s highlights is the octa-core Helio G99 chipset, which is paired with two gaming engines — Hyper Engine 2.0 Lite and the Panther Engine. These hardware additions should make the phone a hot favourite among mobile gaming enthusiasts.

Tecno POVA 4 specifications and software

Customers of the POVA 4 will be greeted with a 6.8-inch 1600 x 720 resolution display with a 90Hz refresh rate. This is backed by impressive 50-megapixel (f/1.6) dual rear cameras coupled with software enhancements like video bokeh, Super Night Mode, 2K timelapse, and blur-specific Portrait Mode. Meanwhile, there’s an 8-megapixel front camera in the hole-punch format.

With multitasking being the key focus of the POVA 4, the company offers up to 13GB of RAM. Although internal storage is capped at 128GB, the microSD card slot allows customers to expand it to 2TB.

On the software front, the phone runs Android 12 with the company’s HiOS UI layering on top. With a gargantuan 6,000 mAh battery under the hood, the Tecno POVA 4 should last an entire day comfortably. The phone is also IPX2 certified for splash resistance, though it may not survive full submersion, unlike IP68-certified devices.

The manufacturer is kind enough to provide an 18W fast charging adapter with the retail packaging, a practice that has virtually stopped amongst major smartphone manufacturers over environmental concerns. A 10-minute charging session can provide up to 10 hours of calls or music listening, the company says. It also supports reverse wireless charging at 10W, enabling customers to charge other compatible devices wirelessly.

Tecno POVA 4 availability and price

Customers can pick up Tecno’s latest mid-ranger in colours like Uranolith Grey, Magma Orange, and Cryolite Blue starting December 13 via Amazon and JioMart. Pricing has been set at Rs 11,999, making this among the most affordable mid-range phones currently available in the country.
