Directed by Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan, Thalaikoothal stars Samuthirakani, Kathir, Vasundhara, and others in pivotal roles. The film was produced by S. Sashikanth under Y Not Studios. The cinematography has been managed by Martin Donraj, while the editing is being done by Dani Charles. Music for the film is given by Kannan Narayanan.

The official synopsis of the film, as shared by the team, reads, “A man’s long battle to save his comatose father is met with financial obstacles, and with his family suggesting euthanasia as the best possible option. What will he do?”
As per reports, the makers have made efforts to highlight a ritual often noticed in the rural areas of Tamil Nadu. Popularly known in Virudhunagar, the ritual includes involuntary euthanasia performed traditionally on the elderly members of the village. Striving to showcase the same, the team filmed Thalaikoothal in areas of Kovilpatti, Kutralam and Tenkasi.

Several aspects of the film were lauded by the critics, and many called the film as an ‘outstanding’ effort to highlight the important parts of the story. Performances by the actors were also appreciated as the narrative was delivered with perfection. Technical aspects like the sound design, visuals, cinematography, and direction were appreciated as it made the socially relevant film beautiful and convincing.
