Fans can watch Thankam on Amazon Prime Video on February 20, 2023. The official announcement regarding the same was made on OTT platform’s social media accounts, with a message that read, “experience the story of two gold dealers from Kerala on their journey to Mumbai carrying Gold. #ThankamOnPrime, Feb 20”

The film released in theatres in January 2023 along with Mohanlal’s Alone. Despite the clash, the film was watched by many and appreciated by the critics and the audience.

Thankam: Cast and Crew

Directed by Saheed Arafath and written by Syam Pushkaran, Thankam was jointly produced by Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh Pothan, and Syam Pushkaran. The film stars Biju Menon, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Aparna Balamurali and others.

Gautham Sankar has managed the cinematography of the film whereas the editing has been done by Kiran Das. Bijibal has given the music for Thankam which is produced under Bhavana Studios, Working Class Hero, and Fahadh Faasil and Friends’ banner.

The story of Thankam revolves around Thrissur-based gold agents – Muthu and Kannan. Hailing from the Gold Capital of India, they embark on a journey to Mumbai with an aim to distribute gold. However, things do not go as planned as the two men faces several hurdles leading to mishaps which change the course of their journey.

Thankam: Review and IMDb Rating

The film was announced in October 2019 and was expected to release in the beginning of 2020; however, the makers delayed the release owing to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, the film garnered impressive reviews from critics and the audience.

Direction and story by Saheed Arafath and Syam Pushkaran respectively, were lauded as the narrative along with the performances by ace actors entertained the audience, keeping them glued to the seat. The positive word of mouth continued several days post the release. Meanwhile critics mentioned Thankam as a perfect example to be suggested for character study as they have been sketched to perfection. The film is packed with interesting and unexpected plot twists which keeps the audience engaged with the guesses and surprises.
