The video shared in 2013 became famous for several reasons, eventually being made in several versions, which also garnered millions of views. The narration was made by a man who called himself ‘Kai’ and described that the events he was sharing were seen by him while he was still on the scene. Recollecting the experience, he shares about being picked up by Jett Simmons McBride, a 300-pound man claiming to be Jesus Christ, who says he raped a 14-year-old girl in the Virgin Islands while on a business trip. He further adds about helping a pedestrian who was crushed by McBride’s car by removing a hatchet from his backpack and striking McBride on the head. His reenactment of the story leads to several interrogations by the police, and eventually to being set free. What follows are events stating the truth, the fund group formed by supporters, murder convictions, and more.

The first video uploaded by Jesson Reisbeck in 2013 garnered a lot of attention, eventually making over 7.8 million views by December 2021, Parts of it were also turned into a song and a video garnering over 10 million views in a short time. The inside edition of the interview was also uploaded on YouTube and had over 7.5 million views till the time of the show announcement in November 2022.
