- Kia currently sells the EV6 in India, with a starting price of Rs 60 lakhs
- The South Korean automaker has already posted multiple teasers of the electric SUV
- Kia hasn’t shared pricing or availability-related details as of yet
Kia clearly has big plans for India and has fared well since entering the market a few years ago with its ICE models. The automaker officially launched the Kia EV6 in India earlier this year, with prices starting at Rs 60 lakhs. Kia is now prepping the release of its upcoming flagship EV in the country, namely the Kia EV9, which bears resemblance to the Kia Telluride.
The company’s official Twitter account has teased the arrival of the EV in the region, with a silhouette of the EV shown in the brief video (attached below). As InsideEVs notes, this aligns well with recent teasers detailing a near-production version of the Kia EV9. In addition to the teaser, the South Korean manufacturer also stated that the electric SUV would be revealed at the 2023 Auto Expo next month.

As per the Kia EV9 concept detailed by the automaker, it will be 197 inches long with a 122-inch wheelbase. Much like the Kia EV6, the EV9 will be based on the company’s E-GMP platform, which is also used in Hyundai’s IONIQ series of EVs. However, there could be some tweaks expected, considering the difference in size between the two Kia EVs.
Kia EV9 Battery Rumours
As per recent rumours, the Kia EV9 could include a 100 kWh battery, which should offer a significantly better range than the Kia EV6, which comes with a 77.4 kWh battery pack (528 km). It won’t be a big surprise if Kia offers at least one variant of the EV9 with a 77.4 kWh battery.
Most of the other details about the EV should follow at the Auto Expo in a couple of weeks from now. Kia is undoubtedly among the most popular consumer vehicle manufacturers across the globe, and it has already taken a decent chunk of the Indian ICE automobile market. The automaker hopes to do the same with the EV6 and the upcoming EV9 electric car.
