HTC Desire 22 Pro has been launched in Taiwan and the UK. It is the successor to the last year’s Desire 21 Pro mid-range phone. The major highlight of the Desire 22 Pro it is a metaverse-focused smartphone. It is designed to work with HTC’s Vive Flow VR headset to access Viverse, which company’s version of the metaverse. Viverse can be accessed through its app, which allows users to create avatars for the virtual world.

In addition, the Desire 22 Pro also carries support for NFT (non-fungible token) functionality. It features a digital wallet called the Vive Wallet, which can be used to manage crypto assets and offers a free NFT. The NFT support is available on the Taiwanese variant, but not the model heading to the UK.

The Desire 22 Pro features a 6.6-inch LCD panel with a punch-hole design. It offers a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The device comes preinstalled with the Android 12 OS. The power button available on its right side is integrated with a fingerprint scanner.

At the helm of the Desire 22 Pro is the Snapdragon 695 chipset. The device ships with 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a microSD card slot for more storage. It packs a 4,520mAh battery that supports 18W wired charging and wireless charging. It has a 32-megapixel camera for snapping selfies. Its rear camera setup has a 64-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 5-megapixel depth camera.

Some of the other features of the Desire 22 Pro include dual-SIM, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, NFC, a USB Type-C port, and an IP67-rated dustproof and water-resistant build. Coming back to the metaverse capabilities of the phone, it is not clear what different features it offers that are not available on other phones since the Vive Flow VR headset is designed to work with any Android smartphone.

The Desire 22 Pro is priced at TWD 11,990 (~Rs 31,900). It comes in Starry Night Black and Wave Gold colours. It is unclear whether the Taiwanese brand has any plans to release in other markets.
