The Tata Harrier EV could launch sooner than we thought

The recently concluded 2023 Auto Expo was host to a lot of new automobile announcements, with Tata Motors launching a handful of new offerings. Among the notable additions at the event was the electric version of the Tata Harrier. However, the company didn’t reveal availability details for the new luxury EV.

As per a new report by Carwale, Tata could be preparing to launch the new flagship EV by 2024. The publication adds that one of the Harrier EV variants is nearing the production stages. While Tata did reveal some of the hardware of the new EV at the Auto Expo, information on aspects like the battery pack used, or the motor, has not been publicised yet.

Tata Harrier EV: What we know so far

Based on reports currently making the rounds on the internet, the Harrier EV will leverage a twin-motor setup and would be available in an all-wheel drive (AWD) variant at launch. The automaker has also revealed some of the tech built into the new EV, such as advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, a digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

We’ve also learned that the Harrier EV could be based on Tata’s Gen2 EV architecture, a flexible automobile platform that allows the manufacturer to conveniently switch between ICE and electric models.

There will be some visual differences with the non-electric Harrier, as per the company. This ranges from updated LED tail lamps and dual-tone alloy wheels, to name a few.

Tata Harrier EV expected price

While no official information is currently available, the Tata Harrier EV could start from Rs 22-25 lakhs as per reports. This means Tata’s upcoming luxury electric SUV will compete with the likes of the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona Electric when it breaks cover in 2024.
