This new electric car will be cheaper than the Tata Tiago EV

  • Based out of Mumbai, PMV Electric plans to launch India’s cheapest EV next week
  • The EV is known as the EaS-E and can reportedly run for 200 km on a full charge
  • More details are expected on November 16

Electric cars are certainly the future, with the automotive industry pushing for the gradual decline of ICE vehicles across the world. India is no exception to this notion, with the country already seeing the introduction of multiple new fully electric cars over the past couple of years, while hybrid automobiles have existed for a while. Now, electric vehicle manufacturer PMV Electric is also gearing up to throw its hat in the ring by launching an EV for the Indian market, known as the EaS-E.

Based out of Mumbai, PMV says this affordable electric car will primarily appeal to residents of cities, ideally suited for daily commutes. As per the manufacturer, this electric car will leverage a compact “Smart Car” design, assisting in easy manoeuvrability in tight spaces. There are LED DRLs included onboard complemented by circular headlamps.

PMV EaS-E range and price

The EaS-E leverages a 10 kWh battery (lithium iron phosphate) capable of running for up to 200 kilometres on a single charge. Meanwhile, there’s a 20 bhp Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), which should make the car suitable for city driving.

As for the all-important question of pricing, TOI speculates that the EV could start from as low as Rs 4 lakh, effectively taking the crown of the cheapest passenger electric car from the Tata Tiago EV.

Not much else is known about this compact EV, though the company said it will be unveiled on November 16. Hopefully, we’ll learn more about the car in the lead-up to the launch.
