The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022 wrapped up last week in Las Vegas despite major brands pulling out of in-person events. Like prior years, major brands have always announced their most important products before the start of the show via their dedicated media events. As usual, the personal computing and laptop category witnessed the lion’s share of launches at this year’s CES 2022 so far.

At the CES 2022, major brands like ASUS, HP, Dell, and more have announced their latest and refreshed laptops. These include a series of gaming laptops, creator laptops, Chromebooks, and ultrabooks. From the latest 12th Gen Intel Core/AMD  Ryzen 6000 processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30, these laptops offer everything and a kitchen sink. Here is a roundup of top laptops launched at CES 2022.

ASUS has introduced a series of gaming laptops under its ROG and TUF lines, ZenBook series, Chromebooks, and ExpertBook series. Below are the top laptops announced by ASUS at the CES 2022.

ASUS ROG Strix SCAR and Strix G

Designed for esports enthusiasts, the Strix Scar comes with Windows 11 Pro, up to 12th Gen Intel Core i9-12900H processor, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU at 150W with Dynamic Boost. It’s being offered in two display options – 15-inch and 17-inch. The former comes in three options – QHD 240Hz, QHD 165Hz, and FHD 300Hz. The 17-inch model comes in QHD 240Hz or FHD 360Hz. Other features include Dolby Vision HDR, Adaptive-Sync, 3ms response time, per-key RGB, and more.

The ROG Strix series comprises Strix G15 and Strix G17 models with up to Ryzen 9 6900HX CPU and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU at 150W with Dynamic Boost. The G15 offers FHD 300Hz and QHD 165Hz options, whereas the G17 comes in FHD 360Hz and QHD 240Hz options. The remaining specs are the same as the Scar models.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16

The ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 2022 is a dual display laptop with ScreenPad Plus, which rises and slides back to add to the primary display using the new four-directional hinge. This Windows 11 gaming laptop comes with an AMD Ryzen 9 6980HX CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU. ASUS is offering the laptop in two display options – ROG Nebula display (HDR, 1,100 nits peak brightness, QHD resolution, and 165Hz refresh rate) and Dual Spec panel co-developed with BOE (4K 120Hz/FHD 240Hz). The laptop features Dual Force-Cancelling Woofers, Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res audio, and two-way AI Noise Cancellation.

ASUS ZenBook 17 Fold OLED

The ASUS ZenBook 17 Fold has a massive 17-inch folding OLED display, which the brand is calling “the world’s first 17.3-inch foldable OLED laptop.” The touchscreen can be used with a wireless keyboard as a 17-inch all-in-one desktop or can be folded in half with an on-screen keyboard on the lower half. It’s powered by 12th-gen Intel processors and has 16GB RAM along with 1TB of SSD storage. Other features include Wi-Fi 6, 75Wh battery, and more.

Just like ASUS, Dell also launched several laptops at the CES 2022 with the main focus on gaming machines. Below are the top laptop launches from the brand at the CES 2022.

Dell XPS 13 Plus

The Dell XPS 13 Plus is a premium laptop with no touchpad. Instead it comes with a a seamless glass touchpad that provides haptic responses for an overall clean and harmonious design. The laptop comes with up to 12th Generation Intel Core i7 and either Windows 11 Home 64-bit or Windows 11 Pro 64-bit option. The brand is offering 8GB and 16GB RAM options, which is upgradeable up to 32GB LPDDR5. As for storage, users can pick up to 2TB SSD starting at 256GB. There is a 13.4-inch Infinity Edge display with OLED panel and up to 4K Ultra HD resolution with Dolby Vision and 178-degree viewing angle. Other features include 55Wh battery, 60W charging, 8W quad speakers, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2.

Dell Alienware X14

The Dell Alienware X14 is the world’s thinnest 14-inch gaming laptop at just 14.5mm. It comes with  an Intel Core i7-12700H or a Core i7-12900H processor. The processor is backed by up to a GeForce RTX 3060 GPU. Additionally, there’s up to 32GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 2TB NVMe SSD storage. The laptop has a 14-inch FHD display with 144Hz refresh rate, 7ms latency, NVIDIA G-Sync, and Advanced Optimus. Other features are 80Wh battery, Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2.

Dell Alienware x15 R2 and x17 R2

Dell also added upgraded X15 R2 and X17 R2 to its Alienware lineup. These laptops are equipped with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series laptop graphics and 12th Gen Intel processors. The X15 R2 comes with a 15.6-inch display with up to QHD resolution and 240Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, the X17 R2 offers up to UHD resolution and 360Hz refresh rate on a 17.3-inch display.

The HP Elite Dragonfly G3 features a 13.5-inch display with an option to choose from a WUXGA+ panel or an OLED touchscreen display with 3,000 x 2,000 resolution. Powered by 12th Gen Intel processors, the Elite Dragonfly G3 comes with Windows 11, audio by Bang & Olufsen, HP Dynamic Voice Levelling, and AI-based noise reduction 2.0. It comes with up to 32GB RAM, a 2TB SSD, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2. Connectivity options include Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB 3.1 port, an HDMI 2.0 connector, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a nano-SIM slot for 4G/5G connectivity.

HP Elite Dragonfly Chromebook Enterprise

The HP Elite Dragonfly Chromebook Enterprise is one of the most premium Chromebooks with a 360-degree convertible design. The laptop comes with a 13.5-inch touchscreen display with up to QHD+ resolution. The laptop marks two firsts for Dragonfly Chromebooks including a haptic trackpad and a new vPro processor that assures improved security. The Chromebook comes with up to 32GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage. Apart from these, the Chromebook offers Wi-Fi 6E, a 5MP webcam, four B&O-tuned speakers, and noise-reducing microphones.

HP EliteBook x360 1040 G9 and HP EliteBook 1040 G9

The HP Elitebook x360 1040 G9 and HP EliteBook 1040 G9 are premium laptops from the brand. The former is a convertible model with a touchscreen display, whereas the latter features a more conventional clamshell design without a touchscreen. These models are equipped with 12th Gen Intel Core processors backed by up to 16GB of RAM and 2TB of SSD storage.

MSI upgraded its Pulse, Stealth, and Raider series of gaming laptops with the latest Intel and NVIDIA cards. However, the brand introduced a whole new lineup of gaming laptops, MSI Crosshair 15 Rainbow Six Extraction edition, and a whole bunch of creator-specific laptops at the event. MSI Vector GP77 and GP66

The MSI Vector is a brand-new gaming laptop series from the company.  The Vector GP77 comes with a 17-inch display and up to an Intel Core i9-12900HK, whereas the GP66 has a 16-inch display and up to a Core i9-12900H chipset. The GP77 offers a Full HD 360Hz panel or a Quad HD 240HZ panel. On the other hand, GP66 only comes in the FHD option but with an option to pick from either 144Hz or 360Hz. Further, the laptops are equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, 8GB GDDR6 RAM, 32GB of DDR4 RAM (upgradeable), and 1TB SSD. MSI has launched the Crosshair 15 Rainbow Six Extraction edition, which comes with visual design elements inspired by Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Extraction. The laptop features a quad HD panel with a 165Hz refresh rate. Powering the performance is a a Core i7-12700H, a GeForce RTX 3070 GPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. Connectivity options include HDMI 2.0, gigabit ethernet, one USB Type-C, three USB Type-A, and a headphone jack.

MSI Creator Z17 and Creator Z16P

MSI has also launched a couple of creator-focused laptops namely MSI Creator Z17 and Creator Z16P. The display on these laptops offers a 16:10 aspect ratio, QHD resolution, 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage, and a 165Hz refresh rate. At the core of these laptops, there’s up to an Intel Core i9-12900H processor along with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and 16GB GDDR6 RAM. Additionally, they offer up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM and a 2TB SSD.

Acer Chromebook Spin 513

The Acer Chromebook Spin 513 is a 2-in-1 convertible Chromebook that comes with a MediaTek Kompanio 1380 octa-core processor. The processor is backed by up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of eMMC storage. The laptop is equipped with a 13.5-inch VertiView display with a 3:2 aspect ratio and 2,256×1,504 pixels resolution. The laptop also offers a backlit keyboard, a USB Type-C port, and Wi-Fi 6.

Acer Predator Triton 500 SE

The Acer Predator Triton 500 SE is the most powerful gaming laptop announced by the brand at the tech event. The gaming laptop offers a 16-inch display with WQXGA resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate. At the core, the laptop has the 12th Gen Intel Core i9 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU. The laptop can be purchased in configurations in up to 32GB of 5,200MHz LPDDR5 RAM and 2TB of PCIe Gen4 storage.

Acer Swift X 14- and 16-inch

Acer also upgraded its Swift X lineup with a 14-inch SFX14-51G and 16-inch SFX16-52G models. These models feature the latest 12th Gen Intel processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti or Intel Arc Discrete Graphics depending on 14-inch or 16-inch models, respectively. Both models offer up to 16GB of RAM, 2TB of solid-state storage, and 16:10 aspect ratio displays.
