The 1997 Uphaar cinema fire tragedy remains unforgettable till date. June 13th 1997, which was a Friday, witnessed one of the worst fire tragedies in the Indian history. Fire started at Uphaar Cinema in Green Park, Delhi, during the afternoon three o’clock show. The movie that was being screened at that time was Border. The fire claimed fifty-nine lives, and left 103 seriously injured. The victims, and the families of the deceased later formed AVUT/ The Association of Victims of Uphaar Fire Tragedy. They filed the landmark civil compensation case. Neelam, and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy lost their two children to the fire tragedy. This couple fought for the Uphaar Cinema victims, and never quit. A streaming giant is coming up with a series based on this 1997 tragedy. Trail By Fire will focus on the resilient journey of Neelam, and Shekhar, wanting justice. The new original Indian series on the block will stream on the OTT platform Netflix. The series will start streaming from January 13th 2023. All episodes of the series will be out on the said date.

Netflix India (which now has a golden tick on Twitter instead of the Blue one) shared the poster of its upcoming series Trail By Fire. The poster also reveals the OTT release date of this Netflix series. It is a limited series. It is inspired from the book of the same name, ‘Trial by Fire’ by Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy.

Abhay Deol, Rajshri Deshpande, Rajesh Tailang, Anupam Kher, Ratna Pathak, Ashish Vidyarthi, Shilpa Shukla and Shardul Bharadwaj have worked in this upcoming series. It is created by Prashant Nair, and Kevin Luperchio. Directed by Prashant Nair, and Randeep Jha. And produced by Endemol Shine India, and House Of Talkies. The series seems to have a notable starcast and fans of Abhay Deol are excited to see him back on the screen.

The limited series Trial By Fire will showcase Shekhar, and Neelam’s difficult, but resilient journey, seeking justice. It will also depict the endless trials, and tribulations that the couple had to face in their pursuit of justice. The series focuses on the lives touched, disrupted, and destroyed by the fire.
