VAIO has announced the SX12 laptop with a 12.5-inch display. The uniqueness of this laptop lies in the fact that it offers a bunch of I/O or connectivity ports despite its smaller footprint. The display is larger as compared to its predecessor, and accommodates similar sized keys in a smaller body.
The SX12 comes with an entire array of ports. It offers 3x USB-A ports, one USB Type-C port, HDMI, full-size SD card slot, headphone jack, Ethernet port and also a VGA. The bezels are slimmer and the keys are now touching the corners of the laptop. The VAIO SX12 is powered by Intel 8th Gen quad-core Corei5/i7 processors and is offered with an optional LTE module. That apart, the laptop is pretty light and only weighs 888 grams.
The VAIO SX12 is expected to go on sale in Japan this week and will be priced in the range of 119,900 Yen (~Rs 75,400) to 216,800 Yen (~Rs 1,36,00). The laptop will be available in various configurations and colour options. Vaio has not announced global availability for the SX12 laptop yet.
Apple and most of other laptop manufacturers are forgoing connectivity ports in favor of a sleek design, however, the VAIO SX12 proves beyond a point that a laptop can still be sleek and powerful without having to sacrifice the connectivity ports. Unfortunately, the laptop is unlikely to make its way to India.
