Vi or Vodafone Idea has discontinued free ZEE5 subscription with its postpaid plans. Notably, the telco used to offer ZEE5 Premium subscription, which usually costs Rs 999 per year or Rs 99 per month for free with postpaid plans priced at Rs 499 and above.
The move comes shortly after Vi announced free Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscription with select prepaid plans and all the postpaid plans priced above Rs 499. The telco seems to have swapped the ZEE5 subscription for the Disney+ Hotstar. Let’s take a look at all details.

Vi removes ZEE5 subscription from postpaid plans above Rs 499
As mentioned before, all Vi postpaid plans above Rs 499 used to offer free ZEE5 Premium subscription to users previously. However, the terms and conditions page of ZEE5 Premium subscription on the official website now reads, “ZEE5 Premium subscription on above mentioned postpaid plans of rental 499 and above is withdrawn for fresh subscription w.e.f 00:00 10th March 2021.”
This means that no fresh free subscription of ZEE5 Premium will be issued to postpaid users after March 10th. The postpaid plans include Rs 499, Rs 699 and Rs 1,099 personal packs, and Rs 649, Rs 799, Rs 999 and Rs 1,348 family plans. These plans now offer an annual Disney+ Hotstar VIP membership as well as Vi Movies & TV access to users.
On the other hand, the telco is still offering ZEE5 Premium subscription with iits Rs 355, Rs 405, Rs 595, Rs 795 and Rs 2,595 prepaid plans. Additionally, it recently launched four new prepaid recharge packs in denominations of Rs 401, Rs 501, Rs 601 and Rs 801 with a free Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscription.
