Vivo’s upcoming iQOO phone for India to reportedly feature Snapdragon 865 chipset

On: January 22, 2020

A recent report had revealed that Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO will be arriving in India in March this year. The brand is expected to sell performance driven smartphones with affordable prices in the country. Vivo had introduced the iQOO sub-brand in China last year, launching phones such as the Vivo iQOO, iQOO Pro, iQOO Neo, iQOO Pro 5G, iQOO Neo 855 and iQOO Neo 855 Racing Edition. A fresh report on India Today Tech reveals that the first iQOO phone from the company will be fuelled by the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform which is a 5G-ready SoC.

The name of the first iQOO phone that will be landing in India soon is still under the wraps. The report states that the upcoming SD865 powered iQOO smartphone will be a performance focused device that may come with some special features for gamers.

Recently, the Vivo V1950A smartphone was certified by China’s 3C authority, and revealed a 55W charger. It is believed that this could be the first iQOO phone for China this year. Recent reports have revealed that it could be arriving in the market as the iQOO 3. The handset is rumoured to be equipped with the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform. It remains to be seen whether the same arrives in India.

Vivo iQOO 3 specifications and features

Yesterday, a reliable Chinese tipster revealed the specs of the alleged iQOO 3 smartphone. It is expected to flaunt a 6.44-inch Samsung AMOLED display with in-screen fingerprint reader. It will carry support for full HD+ resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio and 60Hz refresh rate. Vivo has used the same device on some of its recent smartphones like the Vivo X30, X30 Pro, Vivo S5 and the Indian edition of the Vivo V17.

The presence of the Snapdragon 865 inside the iQOO 3 suggests that it will carry support for dual-mode 5G networks in China. If this phone arrives in India, it is likely to come in a 4G-only avatar, as 5G networks have not launched commercially in India. The iQOO 3 is said to be packed with a 4,410mAh battery with 55W fast charging support.

For photography, the phone is expected to house a quad camera setup at the top-left corner of its rear. It is rumoured to be fitted with a 48-megapixel primary shooter. The other details of the phone are currently under wraps.
