The 5G game is heating up, especially in China as we head towards the end third quarter of 2019. Vivo sub-brand IQOO has just announced that it will be debuting its first 5G-enabled handset called the iQOO Pro 5G. The company posted a teaser of the handset with its name on social media today debunking previous leaks that suggested the handset will be called iQOO Plus 5G. The launch will be sometime in August. We presume iQOO will be teasing some distinguished features of the handset in the near future since almost nothing about the handset is known currently.
What we can say is that the “Pro” moniker points to an upgrade in specifications, in the least. The company has just previously launched an iQOO Neo with a Snapdragon 845 SoC which is a watered-down model of its first flagship iQOO phone. Hence, we expect the iQOO Pro 5G to sport the new Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. The teaser also gives us a glimpse of the 5G phone in dark and there’s not much we can make out except the ‘Monster Inside’ text.
A couple of weeks back, Vivo got a 5G model certified at the CCC website with model number V1916A. That listing says that the upcoming Vivo phone will indeed support 44W fast charging. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as the original Vivo iQOO also has the same fast charging. Besides that, not much is known in terms of what will differentiate the new model from the old one but we will be on the lookout for new information related to this device. Huawei was one of the latest companies to launch a 5G handset in China with the Mate 20 X 5G priced at 6198 Yuan. Others like the Xiaomi MIX 4 5G are in the pipeline.
