Vivo Nex was first unveiled at MWC 2018 earlier this year. It grabbed eyeballs because of the full screen display without any bezels or a notch. The front camera is housed in a motorized popup that comes out when necessary. The phone was launched in India today at a price of Rs. 44,900. It is an Amazon exclusive device and will go on sale from 21st July.
The Vivo Nex has a 6.59-inch Full HD+ display with a super AMOLED panel on top. Vivo calls it the ‘Ultra FullView’ display. The screen’s aspect ratio is 19.3:9 and even the screen-to-body ratio is quite high since it is a full screen device. The fingerprint scanner is placed inside the screen itself so you just need to tap a particular region on the display and it would authenticate your finger.
Coming to the innovative part, the front camera is of 8-megapixel which is fitted in the motorized pop-out in the phone. When you launch the camera app or while unlocking via face, it pops out and then goes back in once the job is done. On the rear, it comes with a dual-camera setup comprising of a 12-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel sensor. It has an f/1.8 aperture and comes with 4-axis OIS. Just like most Vivo phones, it is complemented with a bunch of AI features in the camera department.
Talking of the performance, the Vivo Nex is equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset which is a flagship level processor. It is further coupled with 8GB of RAM to power the multi-tasking. Given the raw specifications, the performance will definitely be up to the mark and the best you can expect from an Android device. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box layered with Funtouch OS 4.0. It has 128GB of internal storage but no support for microSD card.
Connectivity-wise, it has all the basic array of options including Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac and Bluetooth v5.0. For charging, it has got USB Type-C and there is a 3.5mm headphone jack as well. To power the phone, it has got a 4000mAh battery unit.
