Vivo has silently unveiled the Vivo S1 smartphone in China. The new smartphone is a toned-down version of the Vivo V15 phone that was recently launched in India, and comes with a notch-less display and a pop-out selfie shooter. The only noticeable differences in terms of specs between the two phones is that the S1 is equipped with a lower resolution selfie camera and a slightly inferior main sensor in its triple camera module. Also, the S1 comes with a dedicated hardware button for accessing the Jovi voice assistant.
Vivo S1 Specifications and Features
The Vivo S1 features a 6.53-inch IPS LCD display that offers full HD+ resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Except for the slightly thick chin, the notch-less display of the S1 is surrounded by slim bezels. The smartphone boasts a screen space of 90.95 percent.
The Vivo S1 is powered by the MediaTek Helio P70 SoC that is assisted by 6GB of RAM. The native storage of the phone is 128GB. There is a dedicated microSD card slot for expanding the storage of the device. The Android 9 Pie OS is skinned with the latest FunTouch 9 UI. The Game Turbo mode available on the Vivo S1 enhances the phone’s performance while gaming.
The Vivo V15 has a front camera of 32-megapixel, but the Vivo S1 features an f/2.0 aperture 24.8-megapixel selfie snapper. The front camera promises to shoot optimised selfies by scanning 103 facial features of the subject.
The handset sports a vertically-arranged triple camera module on its rear. The Vivo V15 has 24-megapixel primary sensor in its triple camera setup whereas the Vivo S1 has an f/1.7 aperture 12-megapixel main sensor. The other camera sensors of the S1’s triple camera system include 8-megapixel wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture and 5-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture.
The Vivo S1 is packed with a 3,940mAh battery that carries support 18W dual-engine fast charging. The battery is slightly smaller than the 4,000mAh battery that powers the Vivo V15. When it comes to connectivity, the S1 is equipped with dual-SIM support, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, microUSB 2.0, GPS and 3.5mm headphone jack. A fingerprint sensor is positioned on the rear of the device. The dimensions of Vivo S1 are 161.97 x 75.93 x 8.54mm and it weighs 189.5 grams.
Vivo S1 Price and Availability
The Vivo S1 has landed in China with a price tag of 2,298 Yuan (~Rs. 23,800). The handset can be bought in Ice Lake Blue and Pink hues. The phone is up for reservations in the country and its sales will kick off from April 1st.
