Vivo V17 India launch teased for December 9th

Multiple reports in the past have suggested that Vivo is planning to launch a new V series smartphone called the Vivo V17 in India. Today, the Chinese electronics giant has announced that it will be launching a new V series handset in the country at an event on December 9th. While the company hasn’t revealed the name of the device to be unveiled at the event, but it is expected to be the Vivo V17. The phone was recently introduced as a rebranded version of the Vivo S1 Pro. The Vivo V17 is a mid-range offering with a 48MP quad-camera setup at the rear.

A recent report suggested that the Vivo V17 will come with a punch-hole design in India, instead of the waterdrop notch found on its Russian counterpart. Notably, the press invite for the India launch event from Vivo also shows off a phone with a hole in the top-right corner of the screen to house the selfie camera. Unfortunately, the Chinese company hasn’t revealed anything about the upcoming Vivo V series offering. However, we expect that apart from a different front design, the rest of the features of the Vivo V17 in India will be the same as the Russian model.

Vivo V17 offers a Snapdragon 665 SoC and a 4,500mAh battery

The Vivo V17 comes with a 6.38-inch full HD+ Super AMOLED display, and is backed by Funtouch OS 9 that’s based on Android 9 Pie. Under the hood, there’s a Snapdragon 665 processor, which is aided by 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The camera features include a 48MP main camera on the back, which is accompanied by three more lenses – 8MP and two 2MP snappers. The connectivity features are standard including 4G LTE, dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, and GPS. A 4,500mAh battery with fast charging support keeps the whole package alive.

If the reports are to be believed, the Vivo V17 will be priced in India for around Rs 22,000. We will have more details in a matter of weeks, so stay tuned.
