Vivo launched the V9 just a few days back, which is the most high-end smartphone by the brand in the country. Today, the Chinese firm has launched its toned down variant dubbed as the Vivo V9 Youth. It is priced slightly lower at Rs. 18,990 and thus, comes with comparatively lower specifications as well.
Design & Display
Design of the V9 Youth is identical to its elder sibling. There’s a notch on the top that houses the selfie camera, earpiece and a few sensors. The device rocks a FullView bezel-less display spanning 6.3-inch. Resolution of this display is Full HD+ and produces 2280 x 1080 pixels. There are very thin bezels and the aspect ratio of the device is 19:9. The display is protected by a sheet of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Talking about its cameras, there’s an impressive 16-megapixel front camera offered for selfies and video calling. Just like most Vivo smartphones, it has AI beautification mode to enhance pictures taken from the front camera. On the rear, there’s a dual camera setup comprising of a 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel combination. The rear camera offers various modes such as portrait pictures and shot refocus.
Performance & Storage
In terms of performance, the Vivo V9 Youth is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset which is an octa-core processor. It is combined with 4GB of RAM to offer adequate levels of multi-tasking. The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box which is appreciable but it is heavily skinned with Vivo’s own custom Funtouch OS. It has 32GB of internal storage but you can further expand it via a microSD card.
The phone draws its power from a 3260mAh battery unit which will likely get you a day of moderate usage. It has got all of the basic connectivity options including 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and others.
