Vivo X27 Set to Launch in China on March 19, Could be a Rebranded V15 Pro

On: March 7, 2019

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo launched its V15 Pro and V15 mid-range Android smartphones recently. The company is now gearing up to add a new member to its X-series lineup in China. Vivo today announced that it will be holding a media event in Sanya, China on March 19 to introduce the Vivo X27. An official render of the upcoming smartphone has also been shared online by the manufacturer. Previously, the smartphone had shown up briefly on Chinese TV show “Happy Camp”.

Vivo X27 Looks Nearly Identical to the V15 Pro

Recent leaks have suggested the Vivo X27 will look very similar to the V15 and V15 Pro smartphones. An unannounced Vivo smartphone with model number V1831A had been spotted on the TENAA website recently, which is being speculated to be the X27. The TENAA listing had revealed a design nearly identical to the V15. In terms of specifications, the listing revealed the smartphone features a 6.53-inch display with 1080 x 2340 Full HD+ resolution and is powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 2.1 GHz. Even though the chipset has not been named on TENAA, the clock speed suggests it could be the MediaTek Helio P70. In the memory department, the smartphone packs 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Fueling the smartphone is a 3860mAh capacity battery with fast charging support. As expected, the smartphone runs on the Android 9.0 Pie operating system.

The biggest selling points of the Vivo X27 will be its pop-up selfie camera design and triple rear cameras with a 48MP primary sensor. While the Vivo ‘V1831A’ images on TENAA show a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, the official render shared by Vivo shows no such sensor on the back. This could mean that the X27 will have an In-display fingerprint sensor module, just like the V15 Pro. In case the X27 is simply a rebranded V15 Pro for the Chinese market, we can expect it to have a 48MP + 8MP + 5MP setup at the rear and a motorized pop-up 32MP snapper for selfies.
