Vivo has been teasing the launch of its X50 series for a while now. The X50 Pro was expected to come with new camera tech that offers gimbal-like stabilisation. The X50, on the other hand, was rumoured to be a mid-range offering with Snapdragon 765G and 48MP quad cameras as its highlights.
Now, the brand has launched the X50, X50 Pro and X50 Pro+ in China through an online event. The smartphones feature an AI quad camera setup on the back, and the Pro variant will be the first to feature the gimbal-like stabilisation that was showcased on the Vivo APEX 2019. Let’s take a look at the latest smartphone offerings from the brand and what they bring to the table in term of specifications.
Vivo X50 and X50 Pro specifications and features
The Vivo X50 and X50 Pro come with 6.56-inch displays. While the former features a flat OLED display, the latter gets a curved screen. The displays come with FHD+ resolution, 90Hz refresh rates, 180Hz touch sampling rate and HDR10+. The performance of these handsets is handled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G accompanied by 8GB RAM. Both the standard and Pro variant offer either 128GB or 256GB of onboard storage. Powering the X50 and X50 Pro are 4,200mAh and 4,315mAh batteries respectively, which support 33W fast charging.
Coming to cameras, the X50 and X50 Pro both feature 48MP IMX598 AI primary cameras with micro-gimbal technology. The primary camera is backed by a 13MP Samsung S5K3L6 lens, an 8MP OmniVision OV08A10 telephoto lens and an 8-megapixel Hynix Hi846 ultra-wide-angle lens. For selfies, there is a 32MP Samsung GD1 sensor in the punch-hole cutout on the front. The camera app is loaded with features like starry mode, Super Night Scene 4.0, VIS video stabilisation, continuous focus tracking and more.
In the software department, the Vivo X50 series boot Funtouch OS based on Android 10. There’s an in-display fingerprint scanner for security.
Vivo X50 Pro+ specifications and features
The Vivo X50 Pro+ is the top-end model in the series with the same display as other two phones but with a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. Moreover, the smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset. Vivo is offering the X50 Pro+ in three configurations – 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB.
On the camera front, Vivo has upgraded the camera setup with a 50MP Samsung GN1 sensor primary sensor, an 8MP telephoto lens with 60x hybrid zoom, a 13MP wide-angle lens, and an 8MP macro lens. The charging speed has also been bumped up to 44W. The X50 Pro+ shares its remaining specifications with the X50 Pro.
Vivo X50, X50 Pro and X50 Pro + price and availability
The Vivo X50 Pro has been priced at RMB 4,298 (~Rs 45,500) for the 128GB model and RMB 4,698 (~Rs 49,700) for the 256GB variant. The X50 will retail at RMB 3,498 (~Rs 37,000) and RMB 3,898 (~Rs 41,250) for the 128GB and 256GB models, respectively. The X50 Pro+ variant will set buyers back by RMB 4,998 (~Rs 52,900), RMB 5,498 (~Rs 58,200) and RMB 5,998 (~Rs 63,500), for the 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB options, respectively.
The Vivo X50 Pro is being offered in Liquid Oxygen and Black Mirror colours. The standard X50 gets both these colours as well Shallow Pink.
