Vivo X80 series India launch date has been teased by the Chinese smartphone maker. The company will be announcing it in May in the country. Earlier this week, the company held a launch event in China to announce the Vivo X80 and Vivo X80 Pro smartphones. It is unclear whether the company will be bringing the same smartphones or their tweaked versions to India.

In China, the Vivo X80 comes with Dimensity 9000, whereas the X80 Pro comes in two chipset variants, such as Dimensity 9000 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Both smartphones are equipped with top-notch cameras. Here is all the information on what to expect from the Vivo X80 series for India.

Vivo X80 series launch date for India

As can be seen in the tweet by tipster Abhishek Yadav, the Vivo X80 series landing page available on Vivo India’s website has a countdown timer, which reveals that there are 18 days remaining for the launch event. It confirms that the company will be announcing the Vivo X80 lineup on May 18th, 2022.

The microsite also confirms some of the key specifications of the Vivo X80 Pro. It will come with features like a curved edge display with an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform, 80W charging, and photography capabilities like cinematic video bokeh and AI video enhancement.

A recent tweet by reliable tipster Mukul Sharma revealed that the Snapdragon variant of the X80 Pro, which debuted in China, will be launched in India. He said that the device would be available with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of native storage. He also stated that the standard Vivo X80 will be available in 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage configurations. It will come in Cosmic Black and Urban Blue colours.

Vivo X80, X80 Pro specifications

Here are the specifications of the Vivo X80 and X80 Pro available in China. The Vivo X80 and X80 Pro feature a 6.78-inch display. The vanilla model supports FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Pro model offers LTPO 3.0 technology, QHD+ resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate. Both phones are expected to arrive in India with Android 12 OS overlaid with FunTouchOS.

The Dimensity 9000 SoC powers the X80 and X80 Pro. The Pro model also comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset version. There is no difference in the other specs of both chipset variants of the X80 Pro. The X80 series comes with 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage in China. The X80 has a 4,500mAh battery with 80W fast charge support, while the Pro model houses a 4,700mAh battery that supports 80W rapid charging and 50W wireless charging.

The X80 gets an optical in-screen fingerprint scanner, whereas the Pro model is equipped with an ultrasonic version of the fingerprint sensor. Both smartphones are equipped with a 32-megapixel selfie camera. When it comes to photography, the X80 offers a 50-megapixel (Sony IMX886, with OIS), a 12-megapixel (telephoto) + 12-megapixel (ultrawide) triple camera unit. On the other hand, the X80 Pro features a 50-megapixel (Samsung GNV, with gimbal OIS) + 48-megapixel (ultrawide) + 12-megapixel (telephoto) + 8-megapixl (periscope zoom lens with OIS) quad-camera setup.
