Vivo has announced the Y31s 5G smartphone in China. It has debuted as the world’s first smartphone powered by the recently announced Snapdragon 480 mobile platform, which is designed to bring 5G capabilities to budget-friendly phones. Hence, the Vivo Y31s 5G is the most affordable Snapdragon SoC powered smartphone in the market.
In terms of design and specifications, the Vivo Y31s 5G is quite similar to the Vivo Y52s and iQOO U3 phones that were recently unveiled in China. As the name goes, the device has arrived as the successor to China’s Vivo Y30 phone from last year.
Vivo Y31s 5G specifications and features
The Vivo Y31s 5G has a 6.58-inch IPS LCD display with a teardrop notch. The 20.7:9 aspect ratio supporting display delivers a full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. According to the brand, the Vivo Y31s offers a screen-to-body ratio of 90.61 percent.
The Snapdragon 480 SoC fuels the Vivo Y31s along with 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM. The handset comes with a massive UFS 2.1 internal storage of 128GB. The handset is preinstalled with FunTouch OS 10.5 based Android 11 OS.
For snapping selfies, the Vivo Y31 possesses a front camera of 8-megapixel. On the rear shell is a square-shaped camera module that houses a 13-megapixel main camera with f/2.2 aperture, a 2-megapixel depth assist lens, and an LED flash.
The Vivo Y31s 5G draws power from a 5,000mAh battery. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. On the connectivity front, the Vivo phone offers users features like dual SIM support, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, UBS Type-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Vivo Y31s 5G pricing and availability
The Vivo Y31s 5G is priced at RMB 1,698 (~Rs 19,300) and it comes in three colours such as Monet, Titanium Grey, and Ruby Red. There is no word on which other markets will be receiving the smartphone.
