Vivo has silently launched the Vivo Y81 smartphone in Vietnam. In this year, Vivo has launched plenty of phones with notched display design. The newly announced Vivo Y81 also sports the same design. In terms of specs and appearance, it bears resemblance with the Vivo Y83 smartphone. Hence, it features a large-sized display, decent specs and the latest version of Android.
Vivo Y81 Specifications and Features
The metal-bodied Vivo Y81 (model number – Vivo 1808) has arrived in Taiwan in a single color of Black. The dimensions of the Y81 are 155.06 x 75 x 7.7mm and it has weight of 145 grams. It houses a 6.22-inch IPS LCD FullView screen that delivers HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels along with an aspect ratio of 19:9. The screen is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass.
Like the Vivo Y83, the MediaTek MT6762 (aka Helio P22) chipset powers the Vivo Y81 along with 3 GB of RAM. When it comes to storage, it provides an internal space of 32 GB and a microSD card slot. The handset is preinstalled with FunTouch OS 4.0 based Android 8.1 Oreo.
A battery of 3,260mAh battery is present under the hood of the Vivo Y81. It has an LED enabled rear camera of 13-megapixel with f/2.2 aperture. For snapping selfies, it is equipped with a frontal camera of 5-megapixel. The Y81 is packed with usual connectivity features such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, microUSB and 3.5mm audio jack. It does not feature a fingerprint scanner, instead it come with support for face unlock.
Differences Between Vivo Y81 and Y83
As mentioned above, the Vivo Y81 and Y83 (model number – Vivo 1802) have identical specs, but these two smartphones have differing amount of RAM and selfie cameras. For instance, the Vivo Y83 that is available in China has 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM and the Indian variant has 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM.
There is a selfie camera of 8-megapixel available on the Vivo Y83 smartphone, while the Y81 has a 5-megapixel front camera. Apart from Black, the Y83 is also available in Red color.
Vivo Y81 Pricing
The Vivo Y81 is listed on Vietnamese online retailer site FPTShop with a price tag of VND 4,999,000 (~Rs. 14,900). Since the same model number of Vivo 1808 has been approved by Europe, Malaysia and Thailand, these markets are also expected to receive the Vivo Y81 smartphone.
