Vivo Y83 Launched in India with a Bezel-less Notch Display at Rs. 14,990

Vivo launched a new smartphone in the mid-budget price range in India today, the Vivo Y83. The phone launched in China just a few days back. The major highlight of the device is that it comes with a Full View 2.0 Bezel-less display that has a notch on the top. This is similar to the brand’s recently launched Vivo V9 and Vivo X21. Even though Vivo hasn’t officially announced the phone’s launch in India, a Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom has put it up for sale through its stores. The Vivo Y83 is priced at Rs. 14,990 and is already on sale through offline retailers.

The phone comes with a large 6.22-inch FullView 2.0 display, which in Vivo’s terminology means a bezel-less notched display. The aspect ratio of the display is 19:9 and its resolution is 720 x 1520 pixels which makes it a HD+ display. There are very minimal bezels around the display to offer an immersive viewing experience.

Talking of the cameras, the Vivo Y83 rocks a 13-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture. It is accompanied by an LED flash for clicking low light pictures. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera for clicking selfies. It is enhanced with AI features from the software side. The same camera is also used for face unlocking via Vivo’s Face Access 2.0.

Performance-wise, the phone runs on the MediaTek Helio P22 processor. This is an octa-core chipset that is coupled with 4GB of RAM. The overall performance and multi-tasking of the phone shall be decent considering the specifications. There is 32GB of inbuilt storage in the phone but you can expand it up to 256GB via a microSD card. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box but gets a custom skin in the form of Funtouch OS 4.0.

Since it is already available in offline stores, we can expect it to be available with top online stores soon. At the price of Rs. 14,990, The Vivo Y83 will be in a competitive space where the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Realme 1, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 (Full Review) and several others already exist.
