Vivo Y89 with Notched Display and Snapdragon 626 Goes Official in China

Vivo has released the Y89 smartphone in China as its latest mid-range smartphone. The announcement of the Vivo Y89 has come after the launch of the Vivo Z3i in the previous week. The handset comes with a notched screen and it is powered by the Snapdragon 626 chipset.

Vivo Y89 Specifications and Features

The Vivo Y89 features a polycarbonate rear shell and measures 154.81 x 74 x 7.8mm. The handset weighs 149.3 grams. The Y89 comes with a 6.26-inch IPS LCD display. The notched screen features full HD+ resolution of 2,280 x 1,080 pixels. A fingerprint scanner is placed on the rear panel of the device and face unlock is available as well.

The Snapdragon 626 SoC is assisted by 4GB of RAM. There is internal storage of 64GB and it includes a microSD card slot for additional storage.

Vivo Y89 Aurora Gold and Black Gold

There is 16-megapixel (f/2.0 aperture) + 2-megapixel (f/2.4 aperture) vertical dual camera setup on the rear side of the Vivo Y89. The front notch houses a selfie camera of 16-megapixels. The Android 8.1 Oreo OS that is customised with FunTouch OS comes preinstalled on the device. The handset is packed with a 3,260mAh battery which lacks support for rapid charging.

Vivo Y89 Price and Availability

The Vivo Y89 is now listed on the official website of Vivo China and it is available for purchase at a price tag of 1,598 Yuan (~Rs 16,750) through AliExpress. It can be availed in two colour choices such as Black Gold and a gradiented Aurora Purple. There is no confirmation on whether the smartphone will be released in India yet.
