Vivo has expanded its range of Y-series smartphones by launching the VIvo Y9s in its home market of China. The brand’s latest Y series handset has arrived as a mid-range offering with a waterdrop notch above the screen to house the selfie camera. The Vivo Y9s has minimal bezels on the sides and top, but has a slim chin. The smartphone comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor, a 3D glass layer on the back for an ergonomic feel, four primary cameras at the rear, and a beefy battery with support for fast charging.
Vivo Y9s specifications and features
The Vivo Y9s features a 6.38-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels. The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor that offers a maximum clock speed of 2GHz. The processor is paired with an Adreno 610 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of native storage that can be further increased by inserting a microSD card. Software-wise, the device boots the Android 9 Pie-based Funtouch OS out of the box.
For photography, the Vivo Y9s offers a 48MP primary camera on the back with an aperture of f/1.8. The main sensor is accompanied by an 8MP wide-angle lens, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP camera for macro photography. For selfies and video-calling, the smartphone has a 32MP camera with f/2.0 aperture that’s placed inside the waterdrop notch above the screen. The connectivity features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, and A-GPS with GLONASS.
Vivo Y9s price and availability
The Vivo Y9s has been priced at RMB 1,998 (~Rs 20,350) in the brand’s home market. The phone comes in Blue, Black, and Pink colour variants, and is already available to buy in China. There’s no word on the global availability at the moment.
