Vivo had launched the Vivo Z1 smartphone in May. The popular Chinese manufacturer has announced a new edition of the smartphone with Vivo Z1i moniker. Compared to the Z1 phone, the newly unveiled Vivo Z1i is packed with a different SoC, higher storage and a better front-facing camera. Also, the Z1i sports a notched display like the Z1.
Vivo Z1i Specifications and Features
The Vivo Z1i features a 6.26-inch IPS LCD display. Because of the notch present at the top of the screen, it supports FHD+ resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9. The rear panel of the smartphone is made out of glass
The Snapdragon 660 chipset that includes 2.2 GHz octa-core processor and Adreno 512 graphics is present under the hood of the Vivo Z1. The Snapdragon 636 that powers the Vivo Z1i has 1.8 GHz octa-core processor and Adreno 509 graphics. The SD636 is the same SoC that powers the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Motorola Moto Z3 Play, Nokia X6, Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1, Lenovo Z5, and more.
The SoC is coupled with 4 GB of RAM and it has an inbuilt storage of 128 GB. For additional storage, user can make use of the hybrid SIM slot to add a microSD card. The handset is packed with a 3,260mAh battery.
For shooting selfies, it has a selfie camera of 16-megapixel. The rear panel has a vertical dual camera module that includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. The FunTouch OS 4.0 flavored Android 8.1 Oreo comes preloaded on the smartphone. A fingerprint scanner resides on its backside. It is packed with other common features like Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, 4G VoLTE, dual-SIM support, GPS, microUSB 2.0 and 3.5mm audio jack.
Vivo Z1i Pricing
The pre-orders of the Vivo Z1i have started in China. Starting from July 7, it will be available in the home market with a pricing of 1,898 Yuan (~Rs. 19,600). The Vivo Z1 is now selling with a discounted price of 1,598 Yuan (~Rs. 16,500).
The Black variant of the Vivo Z1i comes with Gold accents. The handset can be also bought in Red color. As of this writing, there is no information on whether the smartphone will be also made available outside of China.
To conclude, the Vivo Z1i comes with a higher inbuilt storage along with downgraded SoC and front camera when compared to the Z1. Apart from these differences, both the phones have identical specs. Also, the lower-specced Z1i commands a higher price than the Z1.
