Last week Vivo had sent out media invites for a launch event on July 31st in China. It was speculated that the Vivo V1921 that surfaced on TENAA could be the Vivo Z5. Now it has been officially confirmed by the company that the upcoming smartphone will be the Vivo Z5.
Vivo China’s product manager shared promo images of the Vivo Z5 giving us a look at the upcoming device. The images show the Vivo Z5 in three gradient colours i.e Black (with Green accents), Purple, and White. The back panel appears to be glass that houses a triple camera setup at the top left corner. The device is expected to come with an in-display fingerprint scanner since there isn’t a rear-mounted one. On the front, there is a waterdrop notch on the top and a slightly thick chin at the bottom. The images reveal a dedicated Jovi AI assistant button on the left side of the phone. The volume rocker and power button are located on the right side.
The est of the specs are expected to remain the same as per the TENAA listing. The Vivo Z5 will sport a 6.35-inch AMOLED display bearing FHD+ resolution. The camera module may comprise of 48MP main shooter accompanied by an 8MP secondary lens and 2MP depth sensor. Up front, the device is expected to be fitted with a 32MP selfie snapper. The smartphone will be equipped with a 2.3GHz octa-core chipset coupled with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. A 4,420mAh battery unit fitted inside completes the list of specifications.
It’s unknown whether the Vivo Z5 will be an upgraded variant of the Vivo Z5x that was launched in May this year. We will have to wait until the launch event to know more.
