Vi’s Weekend Data Rollover offer lets you carry forward your unused data on weekends: here’s how it works

All three major telcos in India offer unlimited prepaid plans with daily data benefits. While users who exhaust their daily data limit are restricted to slower speeds post FUP, those who don’t fully utilise the daily limit simply lose the leftover data. For the latter, Vodafone Idea or Vi has announced the Weekend Data Rollover benefit.

The new Weekend Data Rollover benefit is a limited duration offer available for those who are on an unlimited prepaid plan worth Rs 249 and above. The new data rollover feature is designed to carry forward unused daily data from weekdays to the weekend. Here are all details of the Vi Weekend Data Rollover benefit.

Vi Weekend Data Rollover: how it works

The Vi Weekend Data Rollover benefit is a limited time offer valid from October 19th, 2020  to January 17th, 2021. The offer will be applicable on all unlimited recharge plans of the telco above Rs 249 with a daily data limit. The benefit is also applicable on plans with double data benefit and will apply to the full double data quota. Those who recharge their Vi or Vodafone Idea number with an unlimited prepaid plan above Rs 249 will get their unused daily data carried forward automatically to the weekend data limit.

Vi will accumulate all unused data from Monday to Friday and add it to the daily data cap on Saturday and Sunday. To illustrate, the Rs 249 plan offers 1.5GB data per day and if the user ends up consuming only 1GB data every day during the week, they will have 2.5GB accumulated data to be used over the weekend.

The accumulated data will be available over and above the daily data limit on the weekend. Additionally, the daily data quota for the weekend days will only kick in after the user has exhausted the accumulated data. If the user is unable to exhaust the accumulated data over the weekend, it will expire.

The rolled over data will also expire if the validity of the pack gets over before the user utilises it and there’s a gap between the expiry date and new recharge. Simply put, if you have accumulated data and the unlimited plan is going to expire anytime soon, it’s advised to do a fresh recharge with a new unlimited pack before the expiry date of the current pack.

Users can check accumulated data in the ‘Active Packs and Services’ section of the Vi app. Alternatively, they can also dial ‘*199#’ from their phone to check the same.
