Vodafone India is all set to roll out VoLTE services from January. The roll out will be scheduled in phases across the country. This will include circles like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Gujarat and Karnataka. Vodafone is currently the second-largest telecom operator in India with a subscriber base of 207.44 million as of October 2017. After adding VoLTE, it will look forward to acquire new customers in urban areas.
Vodafone will become the third operator in India after Reliance Jio and Airtel to launch VoLTE services. Just like others, even Vodafone won’t be charging customers for using VoLTE. The only requirement is that they need to have a handset that supports VoLTE and a 4G enabled Vodafone SIM.
According to reports, Vodafone will be rolling out VoLTE in a total of 17 circles across India. This will probably be accomplished by the end of 2018. At present, Vodafone has its 4G services well established in all the 17 circles it is planning to launch VoLTE in. Moreover, its network is spread across 140,000 sites across the country.
“Vodafone is getting future-ready with the advent of newer technologies and digital services. Vodafone VoLTE is an important step towards introducing futuristic technology enhancing our data strong network”, said Vodafone India’s CEO Sunil Sood.
Now that Vodafone will have support for VoLTE, we can soon expect Idea to have the same as both will be merging their services in the coming months.
