JioPhone Next first impressions

Here is our first impressions of the device.

Jio has finally launched its JioPhone Next smartphone in partnership with Google. The phone will be available in JioMart Digital stores starting Diwali.

Price in India

The JioPhone Next is priced at Rs 6,499. However, interested buyers can get it by paying Rs 1,999 upfront and the remaining amount for 18/ 24 month EMIs starting at Rs 300/month.

Jio is offering the JioPhone Next, removable battery, micro-USB cable, 5W charging adapter, and the standard documentation in the box. 


The JioPhone Next comes with a plastic build and a removable back panel. The plastic chassis of the smartphone doesn’t creak and feels solid in hand.


The JioPhone Next has a 5.45-inch HD+ TFT LCD panel with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. The display has massive bezels with decent sharpness and legibility indoors.


The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 215, which is a quad-core SoC clocked at 1.3GHz. The chipset is backed by 2GB RAM and 32GB of storage expandable up to 512GB.


JioPhone Next boots a custom Android interface called PragatiOS. It comes with Google's and Jio's suite of apps. There are features like Read Aloud and translating up to 10 Indian languages.


The JioPhone Next is equipped with a 13MP rear camera featuring an integrated Snapchat lens, HDR mode, and night mode. For selfies, there’s a 5MP camera on the front.


JioPhone Next comes with a removable battery that can be replaced easily. It features a 3,500mAh capacity, which can be charged at 5W.
