8 key features of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1

 Here are the 8 key features of the latest flagship processor from the chipset maker.

Qualcomm recently announced its most advanced mobile platform called Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. 

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is made by Samsung Foundry’s 4nm process. The chipset will compete with Apple’s A15 Bionic, MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000, and Samsung’s Exynos 2200.

4nm processor

The latest flagship chipset features a new always-on AI system powered by the 3rd Gen Qualcomm Sensing Hub. There’s also an on-device AI backed by the 7th Gen Qualcomm AI Engine.

Always-on AI

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 features a new always-on ISP, which reduces the power consumption by cameras. This allows facial unlock to be always active. 

Always-on camera

The flagship processor comes with Snapdragon Sight Technology featuring the first commercial 18-bit mobile ISP. It is also the first to offer 8K HDR video capture for the mobile platform.

Camera 

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is equipped with the 4th gen Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System. It’s the world’s first 5G Modem-RF system to touch 10 Gigabit download speeds. 

5G connectivity

The new Adreno GPU offers a 30 percent boost in graphics and a 25 percent improvement in battery consumption. Other features include Adreno Frame Motion Engine and Variable Rate Shading Pro.

Gaming

The chipset features Snapdragon Sound Technology. There’s Qualcomm aptX Lossless technology for CD-quality wireless audio. It’s the first Snapdragon SoC to support all-new LE audio features.

Sound

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is the first Snapdragon SoC to feature a dedicated Trust Management Engine. It’s also the world’s first to feature Android Ready SE.
