Meta’s popular messaging service WhatsApp is currently down in India, as users cannot send or receive messages or make calls. The outage is affecting both personal chats as well as group chats. Downdetector, a website that monitors internet outages, also reports issues with the messaging platform. According to the Downdetector, users began reporting issues at 12.07 pm and peaked at 12.51 pm.
The exact reason behind the outage is still unknown. However, Meta responded, “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages, and we’re working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible.”
